Terms & Conditions
These terms govern use of Cotterpin, equipment maintenance software operated by Capcon LLC of Great Falls, Montana. Last updated 15 September 2026.
Using Cotterpin
Cotterpin is provided to businesses for tracking their own equipment. Access is granted by the company that holds the account; that company decides who may use it and what each person may do. You agree to use it only for your employer's legitimate business, to keep your access to yourself, and not to attempt to reach another company's records. Your employer is responsible for the accuracy of what is recorded in their account.
SMS Terms
Cotterpin has no passwords. You sign in by entering your mobile number and tapping “Send me a code”, and Cotterpin texts you a six-digit one-time passcode valid for five minutes. Tapping that button is your consent to receive that message.
123456 is your Cotterpin sign-in code. It expires in 5 minutes. Reply HELP for help.
- What we send: sign-in codes only. Cotterpin does not send marketing, promotional or informational text messages.
- How often: one message each time you request a code — for most crews, a few times a month.
- Cost: Cotterpin does not charge for text messages. Message and data rates may apply.
- To stop: reply STOP to any message. Because the code is how you sign in, stopping messages also means you cannot sign in on that number until you reply START.
- For help: reply HELP, or contact us at jeff.short@capconmt.com or (406) 788-4593.
- Carriers: mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Your mobile number is handled as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Cotterpin does not share mobile information or messaging consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. A plain-language version of this section is at cotterpin.app/sms.
Your records
Equipment records, photos and service history entered into a company's account belong to that company. Capcon LLC does not claim ownership of them and does not use them for any purpose other than operating Cotterpin for that company.
Availability and liability
Cotterpin is provided as is, without warranty. It is a record-keeping tool: it does not inspect equipment, and it is not a substitute for an operator's own checks, a manufacturer's maintenance schedule, or any legal requirement that applies to your work. To the extent the law allows, Capcon LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of Cotterpin.
